Six die in accident near Multan

MULTAN, Feb 6: At least six people, including a woman, were killed and several others injured when a passenger van collided head-on with a truck near the Makhdoom Rasheed area on Friday.

The accident took place when the van driver lost control as one of its tyres burst near Nau Kassi on the Multan-Vehari road. The van was coming here from Duniapur with at least 21 passengers against the capacity of 14.

Nazeer, Javed, Sumaira and Rab Nawaz died on the spot while Mumtaz and Mazhar succumbed to their injuries at the Nishter Hospital.

The 14 injured brought to the hospital included: Khalil, Tahir, Ali Ahmar, Tania Bibi, Mohammad Sadiq, Allah Bachaya, Ayesha Bibi, Faheem Bibi, Farhat Bibi, Mehvish, Saad Bibi and Afshaan Bibi. Two injured women could not be unidentified. Doctors at the Nishter Hospital termed the condition of Ali Ahmar critical.
