KASUR, Feb 6: Eight people, including a union council Nazim and his two brothers, allegedly shot dead two people and injured the third over an old enmity in Kalarakabad village, Raiwind Saddar.

Police said Noor Hasan, his nephew Abdul Majeed and relative Mohammad Husain were on their way home by a motorcycle from Kot Radha Kishan. When they reached near their home, the accused, including Bhamba union council Nazim Ilyas Sindhu, his two brothers Abbas and Iqbal, Akram, Arif, Naeem Masih, Salim Masih and Sojraz Masih, opened fire on them, killing Noor and Majeed on the spot and injuring Mohammad Husain seriously.

Later, the accused collected Rs30,000 in cash from the pockets of the dead men and took away their licensed weapons. The injured was rushed to the Kot Radha Kishan rural health centre.

Raiwind Saddar police reached the spot and sent the bodies to the Kasur DHQ Hospital for autopsy. A case was registered with no arrest.

GANGS: Nine members of three inter-district gangs were arrested by the city circle police and recovered four cars, cash, mobile phones, weapons and a huge quantity of bullets from their possession. This was stated by city DSP Zaheer Babar Bajwa at a press conference on Friday.

He said Aslam (ring leader), Liaquat and Tanvir Anjum were involved in car snatchings in Chhanga Manga and Kot Radha Kishan.

Khuddian police arrested them and recovered four stolen cars, two pump action, three pistols and bullets from their possession.

The second gang, Hubaib alias Hubaibi gang, also comprised three members. DSP Bajwa claimed that Hubaib, Mustafa and Shabbir were involved in a number of dacoities and robberies. Police recovered hundreds and thousands of rupees in cash, three cell phones and illicit weapons from their custody.

The third gang was Sharafat alias Sharfi gang. It was involved in killing people during robberies and car snatchings. Its three members include Sharafat, Javed Iqbal son of Ghulam Mohammad and Javed s/o Bashir, he added.

He said all the suspects belonged to Lahore and were arrested by the Kasur police along with a car, automatic weapons and cash.
