KARACHI, Feb 6: The government is preparing a 10-year plan for the economic and industrial progress of the province.

This was disclosed by Sindh chief secretary Mutawakkil Kazi while talking to delegations at his office here on Friday. "We have decided to tie up this programme with the federal government for the execution," he said.

He pointed out that vast opportunities existed for local and foreign investment in Sindh. The government was initiating attractive steps for overseas Pakistanis and foreign investors by improving the infrastructure facilities, he added.

The plan, Dr Kazi said, would envisage feasible strategy in the health sector for ensuring provision of clean drinking water. In this regard, he referred to K-III project for 100mgd water supply to Karachi.

He explained that the Provincial Prospective Plan would give preference to quality education, sewerage disposal, mass transit and alternative commuting facilities.

The chief secretary said the focal point while involving the WB or ADB for implementation of the plan would be consideration of the facts and interests of the province and the country.

He said that work was also in hand on simplification of taxes, increased agriculture productivity, stability of livestock sector, reformation water distribution system, purposeful use of seeds to bring stability for foreign investment and achieve positive results from implementation of 10-year prospective plan. -APP
