FAISALABAD, Feb 4: A group of villagers on Monday tore apart the uniforms of a police party and thrashed it to get released two hardened criminals at Chak 613-GB in Tandlianwala police station precinct.

Reports reaching here said a police party, headed by Sub-Inspector Muhammad Ashraf, raided a hideout and arrested Mazhar and Ibrar, who were involved in a number of heinous crimes.

The police were escorting the outlaws to police station when over two dozen villagers, holding iron rods, clubs and weapons, stopped and attacked them. They thrashed and injured the police team, tore apart their uniforms and got the arrested men released. When contacted, Tandlianwala police moharrar confirmed the incident and claimed that a case had been registered against more than 30 villagers.

Shahbaz Ahmad had allegedly embezzled Rs100,000 of his employer, Sheikh Waqar, which the latter handed over to him for the payment of salaries to the employees. The factory owners locked Shahbaz in a room and ransacked his house to find out the amount. Reacting to it, Shahbaz hanged himself.
