HYDERABAD: Open drain claims child's life

HYDERABAD, Feb 4: Three children drowned in two separate incidents in the city. Aisha, 5, drowned in an open HDA drain near Fateh chowk. She was playing near the drain when she fell in it. Her body has been recovered.

She was a resident of Landhi, Karachi and had come here to her grand-father's house alongwith her parents.

The police have lodged a case against officials of the Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA) including SDO Saleem Siddiqui and sub- engineer, Aleemuddin on the complaint of SHO Javed Sheikh, under Section 319 of the Qisas and Diyat laws.

The body has been sent to Karachi.

In the second incident Fahad, 3, and his sister Hava, 5, also drowned in a pond at Hala Naka on Eid day.

They were residents of Bhittai Naggar. Nadeem Memon, the children's father, is a milk dealer.
