Journalists urged to end hatred

By Our Staff Reporter

LAHORE, Jan 31: Journalists in Pakistan and India should use their pen to end hatred between the peoples of both the countries and highlight their common culture and sufferings.

This was stated by a seven-member team of Indian journalists during a visit to the Lahore Press Club on Saturday. They are here to attend the World Punjabi Conference.

They are Chandigarh Press Club president Sarabjit Pandher, East Punjab Assembly Press Gallery president Jagtar Singh Sandhu, Surinder Awasthi, Nirupama Dutt, Shumita Didi Sandhu, Shalinder Sodhi and Gurtej Konarwala.

They said they found Lahore as another Delhi and did not feel that they were in another country because the style of both the people was identical.

Journalists should highlight that people of both the countries wanted peace and resolution of their common problems like poverty, unemployment and lack of health facilities, having nothing to do with war mongering, they said.

The Lahore Press Club president and his Chandigarh counterpart declared their respective clubs as sister organizations and exchanged mementos.

The visiting journalists mingled with local newsmen and discussed working conditions in newspapers of both the countries.
