DERA GHAZI KHAN, Jan 31: The tehsil administration has not yet taken any action against the property tax collecting contractor on the complaint of Naib Nazim.

The Naib Nazim raided the office of contractor on the premises of tehsil offices on receiving written complaints that he was overcharging and caught his staff indulging in illegal practice red-handed.

The contractor told him that he had obtained contract to collect district council complex tax and property tax. However, according to the record provided by the tehsil administration to the district revenue department, he was awarded contract to collect property tax only.

It may be remembered that the district council complex tax has been withdrawn but the contractor is still collecting the tax despite the fact that an inquiry was going on against it.

It is pertinent to mention that tehsil Nazim Asim Zubair Khosa has not clarified his position as it is alleged that he took bribe in verbal award of illegal tax collection contract.

Meanwhile, another financial scandal of illegally charging 'weight tax' at the tehsil's weighbrigde has come to surface. It is alleged that the tax has been collected on behalf of urban union council No 7 Nazim.

Another scam of publicity fee collection irregularities surfaced when a number of complaints by traders and other organizations were filed with the Dera tehsil administration against the contractor.

It is learnt that the contractor has issued notices of recovery of Rs700,000 to various traders, companies, shops and banks while he himself obtained the contract by paying Rs350,000.
