Raja, Taimur on goal spree

LAHORE, Jan 28: Raja Samiullah and Taimur Mawaz Khan steered Global Telecom to 9-7 win over Azhar's Ownin theGlobal Telecom Punjab Cup polo at the LPC Ground on Wednesday.

The losers had a two-goal handicap. Azhar's Own increased handicap lead to 3-1 as both the sidesstruck one goal each in the first chukker with Raja opening account for Global and Ahmad Nawaz Tiwana scoring for Azhar's Own.

Global struck back to make it 4-4 in the second chukker. Taimur scored back-to-back goals followed by Raja who slammed in his second to put Global 4-3 ahead but Asif's conversion of a 60 yards penalty made the scores level.

Global led 7-6 in the third chukker through one goal each by Raja, Taimur and Shah Qublai Alam. Asif scored twice for the losers. Global scored twice in the fourth chukker against one they conceded. Raja and Faaiz Rahim Khan were the main scorers for the winners while the losers' Ahmed Zubair reduced the margin.

In another match, five goals by Omar Minhas enabled Burraq Reds beat Gulf Pak Refinery 8-3. Haseeb Minhas chipped in with two goal and Khurshid hit one to seal the fate of the match.

The losers had two-goal handicap and the remaining goals were scored by Usman Haye (2) and Arsalan Najeeb (1). Three goals each by Atif Tiwana andShaukatMalik helped Royal Fans beat Himmat Blues 9-6 inanother match. For Himmat Pataudi (3), MujahidOmar (2) and Ahmed Khan (1) were on target.
