DERA GHAZI KHAN, Jan 28: The district council adopted 13 resolutions at a meeting here on Wednesday. Two resolutions regarding the deteriorating education system were presented by Manzoor Qaisrani and Tariq Khetran at the meeting held with convener Javed Iqbal Qaisrani in the chair.

The movers alleged that Executive District Officer Prof Khursheed was not paying proper attention to his department and absence of teachers from schools had become a routine.

Shaikh Usman Farooq said the EDO (education) last year visited a school of Bhakkar Wah, but so far he had failed to resolve the problems of this school which had been functioning without staff and other facilities.

The council members unanimously demanded early transfer of Azhar Sohail from the post of Dera BISE controller examinations. Education committee chairman Ejaz Khetran said nine schools of his union council were closed. Upon it, the EDO said the department was facing problems due to the staff shortage.

The house also demanded that details of the tehsil municipal administration's financial scam regarding charging of illegal complex tax should be revealed before the council. The convener said the EDO (revenue) was conducting an inquiry in this regard and after its accomplishment, the report would be presented before the house within a week.

Shaikh Usman Farooq, Nazar Muridani and Ejaz Khetran sought an explanation regarding an allegation by a contractor about giving Rs2 million as bribe to tehsil Nazim Aasim Zubair Khosa to get a contract for the collection of tax.

Taking part in discussion on two resolutions regarding development works and the citizen community boards, presented by Shahida Qureshi and Abu Bakkar, the members criticized the slow pace of work.

Shahida Qureshi alleged that due to negligence of the district Nazim, the district coordination officer and the EDO (works and community development), work on CCBs projects could not be started. Meanwhile, all council members except Mansoor Ahmadani and Khursheed Aliani condemned the so-called debriefing of national heroes.
