HYDERABAD: Two killed in clash

HYDERABAD, Jan 28: Two people were killed and nine others, including a woman, were injured in the Datto Bhatti village, Matiari taluka, on Wednesday when two groups clashed over a common street.

Those killed were identified as Rasool Bux, son of Khuda Bux, 40, and Ghulam Mohammad, 65. Bashir, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhatti, had exchanged hot words with Rasool Bux. The situation took a violent turn when they used axes, causing the death of Rasool Bux.

The brother of Rasool Bux with their friends attacked Bashir's house and fired on his father Ghulam Mohammad Bhatti, who died on the spot. Nine persons - Bhoro, Altaf, Gauhar, Jamal, Zeenat, Bashir, Hussain and Vikyo were injured. Altaf's condition is said to be serious.

All the injured were shifted to the civil hospital. The police have been deployed in the Mohammad Siddique village and Jumma have lodged a counter cases at the Matiari police station.

CONVICT INJURED: A convict, Nasir, suffered head injuries when another convict, Gul Hassan Hashmi, hit him with a brick near store in the central jail on Wednesday. He was admitted to the neuro-surgery ward of the civil hospital. The cause of scuffle could not be known immediately.
