Vajpayee's relative thrown out from speeding train

NEW DELHI, Jan 26: Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee's grand nephew was thrown from a speeding train and killed on Saturday night when he tried to stop a bunch of drunken youths harassing women passengers.

Manish Mishra, the grandson of Mr Vajpayee's sister Vimla Mishra, died of injuries sustained from the fall at the northern Indian town of Kosi Kalan, near the Hindu pilgrimmage spot of Mathura.

Police said he was killed after stepping in when a group of drunken youths started talking obscenely to female college students. Manish Mishra and two others, all college students, were beaten up by the drunken youths before they were thrown out one after the other from the speeding train. Police said the two other students were injured and recovering in hospital. -AFP
