KARACHI: Withdrawal of fare hike demanded

KARACHI, Jan 25: The president of Pasban, Lyari Town, Akram Agarya, has demanded of the provincial government to withdraw the increase in fares of public transport.

He was addressing a protest demonstration held by Pasban Lyari Town outside Karachi Press Club on Sunday. Demonstrators shouted slogans against the increase in fares and demanded of the authorities to withdraw the increase in fares.

Mr Akram said that the Oil Companies Advisory Committee by increasing price of oil had overburdened general public. He said that buses, coaches and minibuses were not maintained and passengers were not getting this facility comfortably.

"Sindh government is not doing anything in this regard, but, it has bowed before transport mafia," he said. He stressed that government had no rationale to increase the price of petroleum, as it had billions of foreign exchange reserves. -PPI
