Jamali promises fund for college

LARKANA, Jan 24: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali has assured that the federal government will provide Rs12 million to the Cadet College, Larkana, to initiate the Senior Cambridge programme at the campus.
Speaking as the chief guest at 12th parents' day at the college on Saturday, he urged the students to seek "specialized education".
He said Larkana had given birth to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Ayub Khuhro, Qazi Fazlullah and many more illustrious personalities.
"It is the seat of politics as Shikarpur and Sukkur are famous for their trade identification" the PM said.
"We are part and parcel of Pakistan no matter living in Sindh, Punjab, NWFP or Balochistan provinces" Mr Jamali said.
He appreciated the parents for educating their children. "Without sacrifices the parents can not impart best education to their children", he said. "Education is an important sector and that is why its budget has been increased by 100 per cent", he added.
The prime minister said women played a vital role in building society and added that the first women university was established in Balochistan.
Responding to the demands of the college principal, Prof S.M. Yusuf, the prime minister handed over a cheque of Rs10 million to him.
He appreciated the march past and gymnastic shows by the cadets. The prime minister later inaugurated the newly-constructed auditorium hall.
Earlier, the principal presented welcome address and enlisted the achievements of the college.
Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad, Sindh Chief Minister Ali Mohammed Mahar, Sindh police chief, and provincial ministers were also present on the occasion.
