KARACHI: Implementation of uplift plan reviewed


KARACHI, Jan 24: Progress of implementation of the Tameer-e-Karachi Programme for the industrial areas was reviewed at a meeting on Saturday.

Minister of State and EPB Chairman Tariq Ikram presided over the meeting, which was also attended by City Nazim Naimatullah Khan and officials of the National Highway Authority, the KWSB and Export Promotion Bureau.

The meeting discussed the progress of implementation of the programme. It was stated that the design and planning of the Road 8000 in Korangi would be finalized within three weeks after its approval by the Coordination Committee meeting to be held on Jan 30.

The cost of the developmental work in the industrial areas will also be finalized in a few days.

The funding of the programme was also discussed in depth and it was decided that the cost would be shared by the EPB, the provincial government, the city government and the stakeholders as per decision of the EDF board.

It may be mentioned here that the developmental work includes construction of roads, sewerage system, water supply lines, electrification, etc and establishment of combined effluent treatment plants in the industrial areas of Korangi, Landhi, F. B Area and North Karachi. - APP
