GUJRANWALA, Jan 24: Arrangements for an exhibition of the 'Made in Gujranwala products 2004' have been completed. This was stated by local chamber of commerce and industry president Saukat Javed Sheikh while speaking at a meeting here on Saturday.

The GCCI president said that the 'made in Gujranwala' quality products were playing an important role for boosting export and strengthening of the national economy.

He pointed out that the export of the made in Gujranwala products would be doubled during the current year.

Uplifting of the DHQ Hospital, establishment of a medical college and strengthening of the national economy were the priorities of the GCCI, he said.

Former chamber presidents Sheikh Muhammad Nasim, Riaz Mahmood Bajwa and Akhlaq Ahmad also attended the meeting.

GREEN BELT: The district government has given an approval for beautifying the city by developing green belts along the GT Road within the city jurisdiction.

At a meeting held here on Saturday presided over by DCO Fazeel Asghar, the participants suggested that the vacant state land in front of commercial and industrial zones along either side of the GT Road should be used for this purpose. They also proposed that the cooperation should also sought from traders and industrialists.

The meeting accepted the suggestion and allotted about 66 vacant plots for green parks. The meeting was told that a green park was being developed outside Quaid-i-Azam Divisional Public School on the GT Road.

District Officer (Revenue) Najam Ahmad Shah briefed the meeting about the beautification plan in the city. Traffic SP Intisar Hussain Jaffari and senior officers of the district government were also present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, City Nazim Babu Javed Ahmad said that the GT Road would be electrified from Rawalpindi By-pass to Chand Da Qila.
