LANDI KOTAL: Zakat to be distributed in Fata

By Our Correspondent

LANDI KOTAL (Khyber Agency), Jan 24: The government will soon start distribution of Zakat funds in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas.

An assurance to this effect was given at the last Senate session when Senator Hamidullah Jan Afridi raised the issue.

Mr Afridi told Dawn that rules would be made for the purpose when the National Assembly meets after Eidul Azha.

The senator had demanded that the government should distribute Zakat in Fata also. He said the government in the past had left out the tribal areas while distributing Zakat.

ROAD BLOCKED: Students in Jamrud on Saturday staged a protest demonstration against unscheduled loadshedding in the Khyber Agency and blocked the Peshawar-Torkhum highway for around two hours.

They demanded that the Water and Power Development Authority should announce a schedule for loadshedding.
