KARACHI, Jan 24: A large number of students visited the three-day book fair on its concluding day at the University of Karachi on Saturday. The book fair was organized by the Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) under its Study Aid Project at KU gymnasium.

Several political and literary personalities, lawyers, judges, teachers and students of various educational institutions visited the KU gymnasium hall and purchased books and other reading material.

Speaking on the occasion, Justice (retd) Wajeehuddin Ahmed lauded the efforts of students for holding an impressive book fair at the university.

He said that the Supreme Court of Pakistan had lifted the ban imposed on Students Union in 1993 and those who were not following the decision could be tried under contempt of court rules.

"A contempt of court petition should be filed against non- implementation of Supreme Court's decision regarding lifting of ban imposed on student unions," he added.

According to KU Students Adviser, over 6,000 people visited the book fair on Saturday. Considering the large number of visitors and their demand for books, the organizers extended timings of the book fair to 6pm.

Among others, Asadullah Bhutto, Younus Barai, Osama Bin Razi, Muneebur Rehman, Capt (retd) Haleem Siddiqui visited the book fair. - PPI
