PCP chief's dismissal upheld

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Jan 21: The Supreme Court on Tuesday accepted the petition of the Printing Corporation of Pakistan (PCP) managing director and upheld the termination of services of Pir Mukarramul Haq, a former MD.

Mr Haq was issued a show-cause notice by the managing director under the Removal From Service (Special Powers) Ordinance, 2000, on the charges of manoeuvring his promotion from BS-18 to Management III group through political influence and absence from duty since June 18, 1998 onwards.

Mr Haq did not submit any reply to the show-cause notice and was dismissed from service by the chief executive of Pakistan on the charge of unauthorized absence from duty. He filed representation which was turned down by the president of Pakistan on March 3, 2003.
