RAWALPINDI, Jan 18: The newly-appointed executive district officer (education), Abdul Hameed Dar, has decentralized his powers for the solution of the problems being faced by the teaching community since the implementation of the local government system.

Talking to Dawn, the EDO, Abdul Hameed Dar, said: "It was physically impossible for me to handle all issues. The district education department has to handle 22,000 personnel. How is it possible for a single person to deal with such a large number of people, especially when there are heaps of problems," he said.

Mr Dar said he had also directed his staff to do away with red-tapism. "My doors are open to all and I am accessible to everyone."
