KARACHI, Jan 18: A young man was shot and injured in controversial circumstances in front of the MPA Hostel by a police guard on Sunday evening.

According to the police, the guard, Mohammad Javed, who was posted at the MPA Hostel, said two motorcyclists, coming from Sarwar Shaheed Road, intercepted another motorcyclist and apparently tried to snatch a cell phone.

As the police guard raised alarm, the suspects opened fire at him, the police claimed, adding that he returned the fire injuring a young man, Majeed.

The ASP Preedy told Dawn that the police recovered a licensed pistol, a camera, original NIC and documents of a motorcycle from Majeed. "So far we have only Mohammad Javed's account, as rest of the persons have escaped, however, the case is being investigated," the ASP added.
