KARACHI: Narcotics seized

KARACHI, Jan 18: Sindh Excise and Taxation Department, during a drive against narcotics, recovered three kilograms of charas, 25 gram heroin and 116 kg opium from three accused, including a woman.

A team of the Excise police (South), led by Inspector Suleiman Jatoi, on a tip off, intercepted a woman, Bakht Zareen, near Lahore Hotel in the Shirin Jinnah colony on Sunday and recovered three kilogram charas from her.

In another raid, Inspector Jatoi recovered 25 grams of heroin but the accused could not be traced. Meanwhile, Inspector Munawwar Ali Samijo, Divisional Intelligence Office, Larkana, under supervision of Director, Anti Narcotics, apprehended two accused, Abdul Mannan and Abdul Jabbar, at a bus stand near Wagan, Warah, and seized 116 kg opium from them.

Earlier, chairing a departmental meeting, the minister said performance of the officers was being monitored and warned that strict action would be taken against those officials who caused embarrassment for the department. He also said that the officers would be rewarded or promoted on the very basis of their diligence. - APP
