Expansion of cabinet finalized

ISLAMABAD, Jan 14: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali and PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Wednesday held a meeting and finalized the expansion of federal cabinet.

An official announcement said that Prime Minister Jamali and PML President Chaudhry Shujaat held an important meeting at the Prime Minister House on Wednesday in which they discussed continuity and stability of democratic institutions.

The announcement said that matter relating to expansion of the federal cabinet, composition of Standing Committees in the Senate and National Assembly and re-organisation of Muslim League were discussed at length and a final decision was taken to the effect."

The prime minister said the federal cabinet would soon be expanded in consultation with the party leaders so that dedicated and hardworking parliamentarians could be inducted into the cabinet.

The prime minister hoped that the efficiency of the federal cabinet would enhance with the induction of the new ministers. The prime minister also hoped that the image of the federal cabinet would improve with the proposed changes.

An official announcement said that both the leaders, while discussing the importance of composition of Standing Committees in the Senate and the National Assembly decided that such committees would be constituted shortly.

They said that constitution of such committees was very important as they perform the role of a watchdog on the performance of the government.

Expressing their views about the reorganization of Muslim League, both the leaders were of the view that people had reposed confidence in the party during election 2002 and now it was the duty of the party to provide leadership to the masses.

They said that PML had the credit of having resolved major problems like the LFO, the vote of confidence to the President and a determined stand against terrorism. Both the leaders urged leaders of Sindh PML to set aside their petty differences and work for national building.
