2 Pakistanis killed in Iraq

TIKRIT, Jan 14: Two Pakistanis and one Turk were killed on Wednesday near Saddam Hussein's home town when unknown assailants fired on vehicles they were driving, Iraqi police said.

"A convoy carrying supplies to the coalition came under fire and three people were killed, two Pakistanis and a Turk," a spokesman said. The US military confirmed two foreign nationals had been killed in the attack. A spokeswoman in Tikrit said one US soldier, a driver of an unspecified nationality and one US civilian were injured.

"It is believed....motor vehicles pulled up alongside the convoy and fired into the cabs of the trucks and immediately broke contact," Major Josslyn Aberle said. Police said the incident took place 15kms south of Tikrit.-Reuters
