KARACHI, Jan 14: The National Aliens Registration Authority will set up offices in all the towns of Karachi to facilitate registration of illegal immigrants.
The Bengalis will also be nominated in the committees to look after the registration process in their respective areas, assured the Director-General of NARA, Dr. Ghaffar Soomro, while talking to a delegation of Bengali community here on Wednesday.
He said that mobile registration units will be moving in the outskirts of the city to register the aliens. He said they could approach him directly for resolution of their problems.
The representatives of Bengalis appreciated the efforts taken by the government for facilitating the registration of aliens. They also hailed the formation of mobile units by the NARA for registration of aliens and assured their full cooperation to the authority.
The delegates alleged that the councillors in their respective areas always threat them of dire consequences if they got themselves registered. They said that those who got registration were facing various problems in their social circle.
They said that 80 per cent of the councillors were creating problems for aliens. Dr. Soomro assured them that their concerns would be conveyed to the federal government for necessary action.
