SAHIWAL, Jan 14: Patients at the local District Headquarters Hospital are not getting medicines because of their shortage caused by lack of funds, it is learnt on Wednesday.

According to hospital record, some 144 patients in different wards of the hospital are not being provided medicines because the administration claims that Rs1.9 million provided by the local government have already been spent.

Social circles have appealed to the Punjab government to take stock of the situation and make available medicines at the hospital without delay.

TENDERS BOYCOTTED: Contractors on Wednesday boycotted tenders floated by the district officer (roads) in violation of the government rules and his alleged misbehaviour.

The district government had invited tenders for 17 development schemes. The DO allegedly issued his own schedule of tenders instead of following the government's plan, alleged the contractors.

Later, the contractors arranged a meeting and protested the DO's action. They handed over a memorandum to the district Nazim, saying they would stage a sit-in outside his office.

BROTHERS KILLED: Two brothers were shot dead by their rivals at Chak 77-D on Wednesday. Police have registered a case with no arrest so far.
