By Our Staff Reporter
ISLAMABAD, Jan 14: The Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi bench, on Wednesday summoned two officials of FIA to appear in court in person on Thursday to explain why they have arrested two top bankers of a private commercial bank.
Justice Tanvir Bashir Ansari who took up the petition of Bilal bin Zaheer, Executive Vice President of Prime Commercial Bank, and Syed Mohammad Baqar Raza, Vice President of Prime Commercial Bank, on Wednesday, and immediately summoned the Deputy Attorney-General.
The court, after hearing Advocate Tariq Khokhar, issued notices to the Director-General of FIA, Deputy Director of FIA and Inspector Ejaz Ahmad Khan. The court directed the Deputy Director of FIA and Inspector Ejaz Ahmad Khan to be present in the court on Thursday. The court also directed the Deputy Attorney-General to seek instruction from DG FIA.
The counsel for the petitioners informed the court that a loan was obtained by Fazl Qadeer against which he mortgaged his two residential houses, one situated in Islamabad, and the other in the Peshawar Cantonment. The bank, after taking into custody the original documents, released the loan of Rs20 million.
The counsel argued that Fazal Qadeer, without fulfilling his obligation regarding the repayment of the dues and without getting the mortgage redeemed or discharged, approached the CDA, stating that his original title documents had been misplaced and succeeded in obtaining the certified copy of the title documents from the CDA.
