KARACHI, Jan 12: Left-arm medium-pacer Stephen John claimed a hat trick on Monday as Bangladesh 'A' collapsed to 118 in their first innings against Pakistan Customs in the Patron's Trophy Pool 'A' fixture at National Stadium.

The 29-year-old Sialkot-born John dismissed Moniruzzaman, Bangladesh 'A' skipper Tushar Imran and Halim Shah with the first three deliveries of his fourth over from the Pavillion End just before lunch after Customs elected to bowl first.

Naseeruddin Farooque offered some fight in making 41 off 94 balls, striking six boundaries in the process. The touring team were eventually all out 10 minutes prior to the scheduled tea interval with John taking six for 44 in 15 overs.

Fast bowler Imran Ali chipped in with three for 16 in 14 overs. Customs, in reply, were 150 for six at draw of stumps with Kamran Hussain (10) and Junaid Zia (22) at the crease. When play was called off because of fading light, a total of 8.3 overs still were left to be bowled. Left-handed Naseem Khan played a blazing 70-ball innings of 69 that included 12 hits to the fence.
