ISLAMABAD, Jan 12: In a resource strapped environment there is even a greater need to apply the management tools to enhance cost effectiveness. This was stated by Vice Chief of Army Staff Gen Mohammad Yusaf Khan while speaking at the inaugural session of a short course on 'defence management,
organizational efficiency and cost effectiveness,' which opened here at the National Defence College (NDC) on Monday.
The course is being attended by the senior officers of the armed forces. A team of officers from Royal Military College of Science (RMCS), UK, and Cranfield University will be conducting the subject course.
The aim of this course is to initiate and acquaint the senior officers with the modern scientific and analytical operation research techniques which would facilitate the decision making, the NDC spokesman said.
Gen Yusaf, who is also a graduate from Royal Military College of Science, UK, appreciated the management of RMCS and Cranfield University for their support in organizing the course. He also commended the efforts of NDC and the National University of Science and Technology (Nust) for establishing collaborative linkage with RMCS.
The Vice Chief of Army Staff urged the participants of the course to absorb, synthesize and integrate technology into the system in order to utilize the veritable benefits of emerging technologies which will ultimately lead to transformation of armed forces into a modern and efficient war fighting entity.
