Bus service: Indian team due today

ISLAMABAD, Jan 11: A seven-member Indian delegation, led by A.J.S. Sahney, chairman and managing director of the Delhi Transport Corporation, is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on Monday to sign a protocol to extend the existing agreement for Lahore-Delhi-Lahore bus service.

A spokesman for the Pakistan Tourism Development Corportion said the Indian delegation will hold meetings with the technical committee of Pakistan on Jan 13-14.

The previous protocol, which was signed on Feb 17, 1999 is due to expire on Feb 16, 2004, the spokesman said. In preparation to the forthcoming meeting with the Indian delegation, a meeting of the senior PTDC officials was held at the Culture and Tourism ministry and the State Minister for Culture and Tourism, Raees Munir Ahmed, was briefed about the extension of the transport agreement between the two countries.

The delegation also includes the officials from the Indian ministry of external affairs, home affairs, and the transport department.
