SUKKUR: 30 held for injuring 2 cops

SUKKUR, Jan 9: More than 30 suspects were arrested, following an armed attack on a police mobile in which two police officials were injured near village Almani in Yaroo Lund police station jurisdiction, on Thursday night.

Reports reaching here said that, TPO, Mirpur Mathelo, Yar Mohammad Rind, in a police mobile was on his way from Khanpur Mahar to Mirpur Mathelo, when a group of armed persons appeared on the scene near Almani village, and started firing indiscriminately.

Mobile driver Ghulam Murtaza Chachar and constable Allah Diwayo Bozdar were injured seriously and taken to Civil Hospital, Sukkur for treatment, while the TPO escaped injury.

Later, the DPO of Ghotki, Aftab Ahmed Halepoto, along with strong contingent of police, chased the accused and surrounded different villages near Suhanjro, and arrested more than 30 suspects, whose names were not disclosed.

Yaroo Lund police sources said most of the armed persons were in police uniform. However, the DPO of Ghotki told newsmen that the men of Kachelo Bozdar were involved in the attack, including Mir Mohammad Bozdar, son of Bachal Bozdar and his brother Mohammad Hashim. He said that a case has been registered against the above accused, and a further investigation was under way.
