Hasina's aide held

DHAKA, Jan 8: Manu Majumder, a close aide of Awami League president Sheikh Hasina's security officials, on the charge of shooting a young man and a police constable on Wednesday.

Majumder was sent to jail on Thursday. Police said Majumder shot Sohel at his thigh following an altercation with him in the capital city at around 11:30 Wednesday night. A police constable, who was standing nearby, also sustained wounds in his finger.

Subsequently, police arrested Majumder and seized from him a firearm. He was sent to the court of chief metropolitan magistrate on Thursday. The court sent him to jail.
