ABU GHARIB (Iraq), Jan 8: Hopeful families crowded outside the gates of a Baghdad prison here on Thursday, eager to see the release of their loved ones as the US-led coalition was due to begin fulfilling a pledge to free hundreds of detainees.
Around 60 prisoners were released from the Abu Gharib prison, outside the capital, but it was unclear whether they were part of the scheme to free 506 inmates announced by US overseer Paul Bremer.-AFP
