PPP, PML-N to hold separate meetings
By Our Staff Reporter
ISLAMABAD, Jan 8: The People's Party Parliamentarians (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will hold separate meetings in the capital next week to review the current political situation in the country and future strategy, sources told Dawn on Thursday.
The central and provincial office-bearers and parliamentarians of the PML-N will meet on January 12 while PPP president Makhdoom Amin Fahim has convened a meeting of the party's Central Executive Committee on January 13.
The source said Mr Fahim, who rushed to Dubai on Tuesday evening to discuss future strategy with party chairperson Benazir Bhutto, would return to Islamabad on Friday.
This is Mr Fahim's second visit to Dubai within the last two weeks for consultations with the party chairperson. The source said Mr Fahim had convened the meeting to inform the party office-bearers about the decisions taken during his meeting with Ms Bhutto.
He said the PPP president would also seek proposals from the members regarding future strategy of the party after passage of the 17th Amendment Bill by the parliament.
He said the party would also discuss the issue of the delay in the appointment of the opposition leaders in the National Assembly and the Senate.
