SIALKOT, Jan 8: An innocent youth was allegedly shot dead by the Uggoki police during a raid at his house in Muhallah Tasleempura at Roras-Uggoki late Wednesday night.

ASI Muhammad Sadiq and constables Farooq and Saleem barged into industrial worker Rafique's house on suspicion of the presence of some outlaws. Finding no wanted men there, the policemen flared up and started abusing Rafique and his son Imran. The law enforcers went wild and started thrashing both of them when the youth asked them to behave. Finally, the policemen shot dead youth for holding them out. Later, they turned tail while firing in the air.

After the incident, the area people took out an agitational rally against the murder of an innocent youth by the police. The protesting mob chanted anti-police slogans, demanding immediate arrest of the accused policemen.

Sialkot DPO Nisar Ahmad Saroya hastened to the spot and brought the situation under control. Meanwhile, the Uggoki police on Thursday registered a murder case against the ASI and two constables on the orders of the DPO.
