KARACHI: Security guard shot dead

KARACHI, Jan 8: A security guard was shot dead by his associate in Gulistan-i-Jauhar on Thursday. Police said that Mohammad Tariq, 26, a private security guard, was on duty in Rufi Paradise in Gulistan-i-Jauhar, when he was shot by his associate after exchange of hot words. The suspect fled the spot following the incident.

Police said that the injured guard was taken to a near by private hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival. Later the body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for the post-mortem examination.

DIES: An unidentified suspect died after falling from a four-storey building in Defence area on late Wednesday night. Defence police said that police help line, 15, received a call from a lady from DHA Phase-I that three suspects were trying to enter her apartment.

When police reached the spot, the suspects had fled due to the alarm raised by the inmates, however a young boy Dilawar, 14, a family member had sustained a minor wound at his hand.

The SHO Defence police station said that the family members described one of the suspect lean and wearing a red shirt. Several hours later, police received an information that a teenager, wearing a red shirt, had died after falling from a roof top in Phase-II, Street number 24. The boy was later identified by the family, at JPMC, as the same robber who had tried to barge into their house.

The body of the boy was shifted to the Edhi morgue for identification. However, the young suspect could not be identified on Thursday at the Edhi morgue.

The police suspected that the teenager was trying to commit a robbery by sneaking into an apartment in the building, but fell, and his two accomplices managed to escape.
