MQM asks voters to get themselves registered

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Jan 6: Muttahida Qaumi Movement convener Dr Imran Farooq has appealed to party workers and the common people to fulfil their national obligation by getting their names registered in the voters lists.

In a statement issued from London, he recalled that during every general elections thousands of people fail to cast their right to franchise because of non-registration of their names in the voters list. Now when the government had launched a campaign to enlist new voters of the age of 18 years and above as well as insert necessary corrections, the head of the family members should come forward and fulfil their obligations.

He said for the convenience of common people, the MQM had constituted various committees at the grassroots level and workers were moving door-to-door to assist the people in the task of registration of new voters.

Dr Farooq said at the union council level, ARO registration offices had been established, where the existing voters lists of male and female voters had been kept for verification of voters name.
