By Our Staff Reporter

LAHORE, Jan 6: A delegation of US congressmen called on Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi here on Tuesday and stressed the need for further improvement in Pakistan-India relations to ensure peace in the region.

The delegation was led by senior Congressman Joseph R. Pitts and included William Tadd Akin and Steven J. Chabot. The congressmen appreciated the recent efforts to improve bilateral relations by Pakistan and India.

The chief minister mentioned the recent visit of Indian judges and lawyers to Pakistan and said it had left a positive impact on the relations between the two countries. He expressed the hope that more such visits would help resolve disputes through people-to-people contact.

According to a handout, the chief minister said the process of economic, political and societal reformation had been accelerated in Pakistan because of the promotion of democracy and education.
