KARACHI: Streets in Lyari inundated by sewage

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Jan 6: Several streets in Darayabad Union Council area in Lyari Town have been flooded by sewage gushing from nearby chocked gutters. The sewage overflow has created a stinking environment in the locality.

Residents said that stinking water from chocked gutters had been making life miserable to them and sewage is seen in narrow streets of the locality. Worst affected areas are Fidha Husain Shaikha Road, near Ghausia Masjid (Street Nos 5, 6, 7 and 10).

A youth of the area criticized the elected representatives of the town and the UC for being indifferent to their problems. "Overflowing gutters are now contaminating drinking water, endangering public health," he said, urging the authorities to take immediate remedial measures to improve the situation.
