SRINAGAR, Jan 5: Indian troops killed four Mujahideen in occupied Kashmir where troops were on alert on Monday amid fears that freedom fighters would try to derail a landmark meeting between Pakistani and Indian leaders, police said.
Two of the mujahideen, identified by the police as members of Hizbul Mujahideen, were killed in a four-hour gunbattle overnight at Mahore in southern Udhampur district, a police spokesman said.
Indian troops shot dead two other mujahideen in the forests of Doda on Monday, he said. In the town of Anantnag, two policemen were injured in a grenade attack, police said. "We have been told to remain on high alert," a border guard soldier said.-AFP
