Wasif claims U-18 title

LAHORE, Jan 4: Top seed Wasif Cheema won the boys singles under-18 title of the All-Pakistan Junior ranking tournament with a three set win over Adnan Khan in the final on Sunday.

Wasif maintained his unbeaten run to post 6-2,3-6,6-2 win in a match that lasted 90 minutes. Wasif had defeated Adnan in straight set finals of national hard court championship and Salma Noorani tnnis championship, both played at Karachi last month.

Wasif received a trophy and a cash prizeofRs10,000. Adnan pocketed Rs 5,000. Earlier, second seed Fahad Ali (Lahore) stunnedthetop seed Ghulam Abbas (Karachi) to win the Under-14 title 6-2, 6-2.

Fourth seed Heera Aashiq (Lahore) also created an upset when he fought hard to beat top seed Waqas Malik to win the Under-12 title 2-6, 6-2, 6- 4.
