By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Jan 4: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has underscored the need to design all development projects in such a manner that future needs of the people are taken care of.

Presiding over a high-level meeting at the Governor's House on Sunday, Dr Ibad said that while designing roads the possibility of expansion and provision for electricity and telephone cables, besides water conduits should be kept in view.

During the meeting, the governor reviewed the progress made on various development projects of Karachi. He underscored the need to come up with effective plans and designs for the roads leading to the Thar Coal-field.

Governor Ibad specially instructed the officers concerned to maintain the quality of work in the projects on the roads linking Tharparkar with Hyderabad and Karachi. The participants of the meeting were told that the lining work on the road from Sohrab Goth to Toll Plaza had been undertaken on the instructions of the governor.

The governor directed the senior officials of the National Highway Authority (NHA) to draw up a plan for an alternate route to Qasbah Colony. He assured them that the provincial government would help them in maintenance of the city roads.

He was apprised of the pace of work at the Gul Bai, Hino Chowk, Lyari Expressway and Northern Bypass projects. The NHA chairman informed him that the work on the Gul Bai-Mauripur project would be completed by next month.

Meanwhile, the governor has directed the senior officials of the city government to carry out his orders soon, which he had passed during his visits to the various parts of the city.
