KARACHI: City Nazim extends ban on hydrants

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Jan 3: City Nazim Niamatullah Khan has extended the ban on illegal hydrants, for seven more days, situated on Nishtar Road in Jamshed Town, it was officially announced on Saturday.

The Nazim had imposed the ban under Section 144 after receiving reports that these hydrants were selling water which was posing health hazards to those consuming it.

A number of hydrants, situated along the Lyari River's bank on Nishtar Road, are not only selling sub-soil unhygienic water, but causing extensive damage to a number of important and busy roads of Jamshed Town.

A spokesman for the city government said that the Nazim also imposed a seven-day ban on the entry of heavy vehicular traffic on the roads, falling in the limits of the city government, to check the increasing accidents in the metropolis.
