LAHORE, Jan 3: The car of Federal Minister for Health Naseer Khan's father met the accident on Dec 28 because of human error, say two inquiry reports into the mishap.

A three-member committee formed by the government to look into the cause of the mishap on Lahore-Islamabad Motorway in which the minister's father, Muhammad Aslam, passed away ruled out possibility of mechanical fault as reason for the accident.

The committee consisted of the Punjab Agriculture Department's Director-General Agriculture (Engineering), Dr Muhammad Rafiqur Rehman, the Government College of Technical Education's Head Auto Department, Allah Yar Qamar, and the deputy secretary (S&GAD), Muhammad Waris.

The report has already been submitted to the government.

In its report made available to this reporter on Saturday, the committee said: "no evidence was found suggesting that the accident took place because of technical or mechanical fault in the car in which the minister's father was travelling.

"The examination of the site of the accident suggested that the accident might have happened due to some human error".

In another report, SSP (South M-2) Syed Ejaz Hussain also ruled the mechanical or technical failure as a cause for the accident.

In his report submitted to the IG National Highways and Motorway Police, he said that the driver had dozed off and caused the accident.
