GUJRANWALA, Jan 2: The bail application of the brother of an MPA involved in a murder case was rejected by a local court while police arrested him and sent to jail here on Friday.

Accused Mazaher Qayyum Nahara, the brother of MPA Muddasar Qayyum Nahara, was involved in the murder case of Naushera Virkan market committee vice-chairman Iftikhar Ahmed.

The police had booked him along with his brother and father in the murder case. But they got the bail from a local court and later could not pursue it. As a result, the judge dismissed their bail applications.

Later, they got an interim bail from the Lahore High Court which was referred to the district and sessions judge for confirmation. It was learnt that accused Mazaher Qayyum appeared before court alone along with his counsel, but the judge rejected his bail application.
