BAHAWALNAGAR, Jan 2: A proclaimed offender involved in a number of dacoity and murder cases was killed in an encounter at Maclod Gunj on Thursday night.

Police said that Qoli Joya, a member of an inter-district gang, along with his accomplices snatched a motorcycle and a tractor in Pakpattan and fled.

A police party on receiving information chased the accused and stopped them near Sutlej River, but the outlaws opened fire on them. The police also returned the fire, killing Maqbool alias Qoli Joya of Chak 151/EB, Arifwala, instantly. However, his accomplices managed to escape from the scene. The deceased PO was wanted by the police of Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar, Okara and Bahawalpur districts. -APP
