HYDERABAD, Jan 2: The Retired Employees Welfare Association, City Council, has appealed to the Sindh governor, chief minister, chief secretary and the secretary, Local Bodies, to direct relevant authorities to pay the outstanding dues of the retired employees.

In a joint statement issued here on Thursday, the president of the association, Sageer Ahmed Rajput, and general secretary, Syed Iqbal Hussain Shah, said retired employees of the local councils and their families were starving as they had not been paid their outstanding dues, including gratuity.

They said government functionaries never tired of proclaiming that they were working for the welfare of the people but this claim was restricted only to press statements whereas the ground reality was that the bureaucracy took years to prepare documents of retired employees and wasted many more in clearing the dues.

They regretted that many employees had died during the tiring process. They appealed to the provincial authorities to realize the plight of the retired workers and direct the authorities concerned to clear the dues without delay.
