CHITRAL, Jan 1: Members of the district council have expressed resentment over the selection of candidates for various positions in the Aga Khan Education Service in Chitral , accusing it of appointing candidates on favouritism instead of merit.

The council decided to constitute a committee to look into the matter and recommend to senior officials of the organization to undo the selection and hold interviews afresh.

Accusing the service of giving undue wheitage to a certain community in the appointment process, council members said bypassing of merit in selection of candidates had led to what they termed heart burning and sectarian clashes.

Council members also decided to constitute a committee, headed by the DCO, to probe into the matter of non-payment of salaries to the road construction workers, who were without salaries for the past six months.

The meeting was chaired by convener Saleem khan while the district nazim was absent from the proceedings.
