ISLAMABAD, Dec 31: All the four provinces have formally given the details of their increased funding requirements to the federal government for the proposed new National Finance Commission (NFC) award.

"We have received provinces' annual funding requirements which will be discussed in the next NFC meeting being convened in the first week of January next year," a senior official of the finance ministry told Dawn.

The government, he pointed out, had already agreed to considerably increase the provinces' share. "Currently we are finalizing our annual funding projections on the basis of which any increase will be offered to the provinces," he said adding that before the next meeting of the NFC, the federal government would hold an informal meeting with the provinces to arrive at certain decision over the issue.
