PA meets today

KARACHI, Dec 31: Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has summoned special session of the Sindh Assembly to meet at 11am on Thursday to securing vote of confidence for Gen Pervez Musharraf as President of Pakistan , as required under clause (8) of Article 41 of the Constitution.

The session, summoned under Article 109 of the Constitution read with sub-rule (3) of the President (Vote of confidence) Rules, 2003. After completion of the business, the House would stand prorogued.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the parliamentary party of the Sindh coalition was held at the Governor House Wednesday evening. The meeting was attended by 88 member of the Sindh assembly. Besides some independents, the members belonged to the PML, MQM and PPP-Patriot.

Speaking at the meeting, Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad expressed his confidence that now when the parliament had approved the 17th Constitutional Amendment, members of the Senate, National Assembly and all the four provincial assemblies would give a vote of confidence to President Musharraf on Thursday. He urged the MPAs to cast their vote according to their conscious.

Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Mahar impressed upon the members to make sure their timely arrival at the House. The meeting decided that all the MPAs belonging to the coalition partners would assemble in the CM's chamber at the assembly building from where Mr Mahar would lead them to the assembly hall.
