LDA takes action against violators

Published December 31, 2003

LAHORE, Dec 30: The Lahore Development Authority has challaned all the Model Town Link Road building owners and shopkeepers, who had commercialized residential plots or raised buildings without its approval.

The authority has pledged that it will not allow unauthorized commercialization on the road. It has also issued a show-cause notice to the Government Employees Cooperative Housing Society for sanctioning site plans for construction of buildings and allowing commercialization of residential plots on the link road without any jurisdiction.

Commenting on a news item about agitation of the link road shopkeepers, an LDA spokesman said the road was situated in the controlled area of the authority, which alone was authorized to sanction the site plans for the construction of buildings and commercialization of residential plots.

Sanction of site plans and commercialization by the housing society was illegal, as it was not authorized to do so under the law.
